Personal branding is a term that’s being thrown around quite a bit these days. While many have heard of it, they aren’t familiar with exactly what it entails, and how it can help grow a business.

A quick Google search brings up the following definition: Personal branding is the conscious and intentional effort to create and influence public perception of an individual by positioning them as an authority in their industry, elevating their credibility, and differentiating themselves from the competition, to ultimately advance their career, increase their circle of influence, and have a larger impact.
Sound familiar? This is actually the route all successful businesses take to stand out from the crowd. Whether they’re influencers, brick-and-mortar stores or online retailers, they all have one thing in common, they know exactly who they are and what they have to offer.
Stand-up comedians, for example, know that their goal is to make people laugh. How do they do so? By getting up on stage and acting out scenarios, telling stories and of course, cracking jokes. Many in the UAE are actually trained at Dubomedy, the leading authority on comedy in the Middle East. The Dubomedy Art School (DAS), provides training in many disciplines, from comedy (obviously) to writing and dance.
Even within the broad term of influencer come many sub-categories which need to be defined. Comedians, as mentioned above, make-up artists, lifestyle gurus, even adventure enthusiasts. Each and every one has their own skills to offer, their own brands to build.
And it all starts with a logo. An identity.
Whether you’re an influencer or a business, your logo is what defines you. Think Apple or Nike, they don’t even need to write their names! Their logos do all the talking.
While some logos are simple, others tell a story. One of our favourite comedians is Fadi. An internationally renown comedian, his personalized logo consists of his head on a mic! Quite fitting given his profession, we think. The Arabic calligraphy underneath only adds to the charm, paying homage to his Egyptian roots.

Another one we love, is this custom design created for Max of Arabia, an adventurer based in the Middle East. He defines himself as a thirf culture kid (don’t we all?) so his name was also designed in Arabic to commemorate that. Look closely, and you’ll see details pertaining to his passions. A man hiking, a little desert creature, maybe even a pyramid! It’s a work of art in itself.
